Micelles, or micellae, are an aggregate of surfactant phospholipid molecules dispersed in a liquid, forming a colloidal suspension.

Micelles help the body absorb lipid and fat soluble vitamins. They help the small intestine to absorb essential lipids and vitamins from the liver and gall bladder. They also carry complex lipids such as lecithin and lipid soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) to the small intestine.

Micellar water is typically used as a facial cleanser to help remove makeup, dirt, and oil from the skin. This is due to the presence of micelles, which are compounds that are highly effective at removing dirt and oil to keep skin clear.
